To direct web visitors to your website at Blue Utopia, you have to change what is called the DNS for your domain.
There two main components to your domain. First, there is the domain itself. You register a domain at what is called a registrar (GoDaddy, Network Solutions, NameCheap are common registrars). Part two in the puzzle is your DNS. DNS is where you route various traffic to. For example, you woud route website traffic to wherever you host your website but you might route your email traffic to GMail or an Exchange server. It can get more complicated than this but that's a decent high-level view.
So, to route traffic to your website that is hosted at BlueUtopia, there are two approaches.
The first and by far the easiest approach is to alter your top-level DNS, called your nameserver. When you alter your nameserver, we manage all your settings here on our own DNS server. To do this, simply log into your registrar account and update your DNS servers to the following:
- dns1.stabletransit.com
- dns2.stabletransit.com
The alternate method is to manage your DNS settings individually. You would chose this option if you have a qualified webmaster or system administrator that has knowledge of DNS management and you want to route different traffic to different locations. If this is your preferred method, the information that is needed by your technical person is the following
