Original source for a record is stored at the time a record originally enters your system. Because a record can enter your system in multiple ways, there are multiple corresponding ways that Original Source is defined. Here are the 4 places Original Source is defined.
At import. When a file is imported, a required field is Original Source. You will be required to enter an original source here:
If any record is new, it will be appended with this original source. If it is an existing record, the original source will not change.
Manual entry. Records can be added manually in the admin panel. This is usually done through the Supporter module. When a record is added, the system initiates a multi-page process to encourage data entry of critical fields. The first of those pages includes Original Source:
Online form.
When records are added directly from your BlueUtopia online forms, they receive the Original Source defined for that specific page. By default, these are set to strings such as 'online_volunteer' to specify that the source was 'online' and the form was 'volunteer'. Other page defaults include 'online_endorse' and 'online_houseparty'.
These are easily modified in the website module. To modify these, follow these steps
