Codes, like volunteer codes, can be published to your signup pages very easily. to learn how to do that, see How to add volunteer (or other) codes to a signup page.
However, sometimes, you might want to display wording for a code, other than the actual code name. For example, you might have a code named volunteer_signwaiving. You certainly would not want to publish this to your website. This is very easy to manage because every code has an internal and an external name.

To modify the way a custom code shows up on the page:
- Log in to the admin pane
- Go to Manage Data > Configure Data Fields > Custom Codes
- locate (or create) the code you want to display on the page and click edit
- Here, you can see there is a 'Public Name'. This is what gets displayed on any public-facing page.
The resulting code would be displayed on your page like this:
